One of the most popular travel shows out there is Rick Steves’ Europe on PBS. Steves shares cultural insights, historical tidbits, culinary experiences, and practical advice for travelers in each episode. He gives you an authentic look at Europe, whether you’re interested in Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece, Germany, or any other destination.
In Portugal, Steves explores the best of Lisbon, such as the Avenue of Liberty, the harbor, Torre de BelĆ©m, SĆ£o Jorge Castle, and more. The SĆ£o Jorge Castle is the highest point in the city and a must do in Lisbon. And the Tower of BelĆ©m is a prime example of the Manueline style, characterized by intricate stone carvings, maritime motifs, and elements of the Renaissance and Gothic styles [1].
In Ireland, Steves visits Inishmore, one of the most populated and visited Aran Islands. The Aran Islands, known as ‘the Islands of Saints & Scholars,’ are integral to Celtic culture due to their geological features, historical sites, and rich linguistic heritage. The Irish (Gaelic) language is still spoken here, and in the twenty-first century, all native-born islanders are bilingual in both Irish and English.
This paradise on earth spans from northwest to southeast at the mouth of Galway Bay, Ireland. The three islands are Inis MĆ³r (Big Island), Inis MeĆ”in (Middle Island), and Inis OĆrr (East Island) [2].
Tour the evocative Celtic forts, ruined monasteries, and other historical places of the country from the comfort of your home [3]!
One of the most memorable shows was Stevesā visit to the Parco Nazionale delle Cinque Terre in Italy, where he explored the most romantic side of the Riviera. The Parco Nazionale, with its 3,868-hectare surface, is home to 4,000 inhabitants distributed across five hamlets: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso al Mare.
Steves visited Vernazza, surrounded by vineyards; the secluded Corniglia, perched high on its bluff; the pastel-colored Manarola; the rugged Riomaggiore; and the quaint resort of Monterosso. The trip also included adventures like fishing for anchovies and more Ā [4].
Thereās no doubt that Steves will transport you to your dream destinations.
Steves’ trip to Greece was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. During the show, he highlighted the beauty of Athens [5]. You can immerse yourself in the magnificent Acropolis and see universal gems such as the Parthenon, Agora, Odeon of Herodes, and more. The host gives you a tour of the Plaka district with the best restaurants and souvenir shopping in all of Greece, the must-see National Archaeological Museum, and seaside views that will make you feel like you’re in heaven. Check out PBS or any of the digital platforms like YouTube TV, Sling TV, and have fun!
From the romantic Rhine River to Burg Eltz Castle, Steves shows you the best of Germany. He visited iconic places such as the historic town of Bacharach and the richest vineyard in town [6]. Prost!!
Another great option on PBS is Samantha Brownās Places To Love. Brown has been traveling the world for over two decades, bringing a unique perspective to each location she visits.
You can add some of the places she visits, such as Canada, Finland, Croatia, New Zealand, and the most interesting cities in the USA, to your bucket listĀ [7].
The show airs on Saturdays at 12:30 p.m. on the East Coast and on Thursdays at 3:30 p.m., as well as on Saturdays at 5:30 a.m. on the West Coast. Remember that these times may change.

Trvl Channel can’t be missing from your list
Travel shows don’t always have a traditional format. That’s the case with Lost Kingdom of The Yeti, which airs on Sundays at 10/9c.
Here, scientist Mark Evans sets out to find evidence of the existence of the Yeti, a legendary creature also known as the Abominable Snowman [9].
During the program, a team of explorers, scientists, or researchers travels to remote mountainous regions, especially in the Himalayas, in search of clues that could support the existence of the Yeti. Elements of adventure and mystery are combined with scientific research. Testimonies from local residents about sightings or legends related to this creature are also included.
On Trvl Channel, you also can watch Expedition Bigfoot on Sundays at 9/8c. Here, a team of investigators explores remote areas in search of evidence to support the existence of this legendary creature, also known as Sasquatch or Bigfoot.
The experts use state-of-the-art technology and their knowledge to find evidence such as footprints, DNA samples, and audio recordings. Supposed sightings reported by witnesses are also taken into account.
The documentary-style program combines elements of scientific research and exploration in an attempt to shed light on the mystery of Bigfoot.
